The hamlet of “Hof”

The gently rolling hills of the lower Emmental region are dotted with numerous secondary valleys. One of these, the Lauterbach Valley, runs in the direction of Bern. The hamlet of “Hof” sits on a small, sheltered plateau. Surrounded by lush green pastures and wooded hills, this is a place where country life sets the rules. The centrepiece of the hamlet is our farm, built in typical regional style, and its traditional outbuildings, including its grain store, garden shed, woodpile shelter and mini dower house.

Our natural setting

A stay with us lets you experience the daily routine of our farm, where closeness to the soil and nature form an integral part of everyday life. The farm’s beautiful orchard of mature fruit trees invites you to tarry awhile in the midst of nature in an unspoilt state. If you like outdoor life, you can explore the hiking and cycling trails of the varied local landscape or just take a stroll into the surrounding country.
We are located directly on the “Heart Route”, which you can use to explore the rest of the Emmental region on board a rented e-bike without great physical effort on your part. The river Emme, which gives the valley of Emmental its name, is also a great place to take a cooling dip in the summer. When it comes to dining out, we can recommend the Löwen Inn and the nearby (one mile / 1.5 km) Steingrube restaurant.
